Jessica Pérez Universos
Guatemalan illustrator and graphic designer. Her work has been recognized in Guatemala, Spain, Chile, Norway, Argentina, the United States and Japan; She has illustrated various children’s books as well as worked on illustrations in different areas and surfaces such as murals and human skin with body painting.
She has been teaching in university courses focused on illustration and design for several years; at Universidad Rafael Landívar, Universidad del Istmo and Universidad Da Vinci.
She has won several awards, first places and awards in various appreciations, one of the most important being the 1st place in the Ibero-American “Primebook” in 2014 held by the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and Skills Up Japan, for writing and illustrating the children’s book “Toti and the Moon”. Which stood out among more than 1,200 proposals, as it fosters the development of emotional intelligence in children and reinforces the idea that we are all capable of achieving our dreams even if the surrounding circumstances are adverse. The book “Toti y la Luna” was selected from more than 1,600 proposals as Best Children’s Publication in Latin America and the Caribbean; at the 2017 WINGS IDB AWARDS, in Washington D.C.
Jessica has been invited to give workshops in various associations, NGOs and local and foreign universities.
