“Quetzaltenango Mágico” Inauguration June 22, 6pm
This collective exhibit brings together the work of six photographers from Quetzaltenango. Quetzaltenango Mágico was born through the talent and passion of these photographers and with the Museo de la Universidad de San Carlos-MUSAC. It’s not only a labor of love, it’s a love song to the grandeur and rich history of this beautiful city.
PHOTOGRAPHERS: José Manuel del Busto — Harry Díaz — Luis Estacuy — Paul Janob — Carlos Eduardo Miralbés — Guido Velásquez
Each photographer captures their particular sense of the essence of Quetzaltenango. And there is so much to capture — cultural heritage, the imposing and multifaceted architecture, and landscapes that awe — Mother Nature’s love and her fury. The nearby farms contribute the bounty of the land, food that is harvested in rich soil, worked by farmer’s who labor day in and day out.
Each photograph captures the author’s pride for Xela and the commitment to promote it through his work, hoping that through these photographs the audience is inspired to visit Quetzaltenango and be surprised by the cultural and natural wealth as well as transported in history to discover the cultural heritage of Quetzaltenango.
The exhibit will be open from June 22 through November 29.
