Hotel Museum Casa Santo Domingo offers several museums that you definitely need to visit.
The museums are installed in what was the church and convent of Santo Domingo and Santo Tomás de Aquino (Saint Thomas Aquinas) College.
The Colonial Museum contains works produced during the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, and the beginning of the 19th century. It includes religious paintings, silver pieces, sculptures in domestic woods and great format of archangels, saints, virgins, cherubs, spirits, and painted metals.
The Archaeology Museum exhibits ceramic and stone objects that mostly correspond to the Classic Period (200-900 AD) of the Mayan Culture. It also has a collection of colonial ceramic jugs that were probably used to store grains or liquids.
MUSEUM OF PRE-COLUMBIAN ART AND MODERN GLASS
Offers a comparative sample of Pre-Hispanic objects manufactured in ceramics, stone and other recent glass pieces.
The Sacatepéquez Arts and Popular Handcrafts Museum contains a sample of the old handcraft traditions of this region´s people, such as glazed crockery, painted ceramic, carpentry and cabinet making, textiles and kites, among others.
