Estadio Pensativo is a football (soccer) stadium in Antigua Guatemala.
The venue is home to first division club Antigua GFC (Panzas Verdes), and has a maximum capacity of 9,000 people.
The Stadium is also used during city festivities such as September 15, where the Independence Parade ends.
The Stadium bears its name in memory of the “Pensativo Team” which was one of the best in the country back in the 30’s. After a series of triumphs, Pensativo team won the National Title becoming champion in 1935.
In 2011, the stadium hosted three matches of the 2011 CONCACAF U-17 Championship qualification between Panama, Honduras, and Guatemala.
It is divided into four sectors, these being: General North, General South, Preference and Tribune, this last one has a ceiling for the spectators.
Los Panzas Verdes is a professional football team based in Antigua Guatemala, and current champions of the “Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Guatemala”.
They are nicknamed Los Panzas Verdes (“Green bellies”) in reference to the local avocados and as represented by the green stripes on the team uniform.
The club was founded in 1958 by Dr. Miguel Ángel Soto Bustamante and Mr. Antonio Martínez Barrios, using the colonial city of La Antigua as its home.
